Our 3rd annual "Breakfast with Santa" was held on Saturday, December 14. Over 300 guests enjoyed pancakes, pictures with Santa and Mrs. Claus, face-painting, and Christmas crafts. Both Margot Hall and the cafeteria were full of familiar and new faces both whom enjoyed themselves. It was our first time hosting two sessions and it proved to be an excellent way to serve more families. Many thanks to the Abbott Klar Real Estate Group for their sponsorship, organization, and hardwork. Thanks are also extended to Santa and Mrs. Claus, our eighth grade elves, Mr. Carroll, Ms. Banga, and the countless volunteers who made the morning such a fun and memorable Brookland neighborhood event!
Our fifth and eighth graders brought some St. Anthony Christmas Joy to The Museum of the Bible on Friday, December 13, 2019. Ms. Tracy, our music teacher, quickly accepted the museum's invitation to perform for museum staff and guests. Our fifth graders did a beautiful job singing and our eighth graders served as narrators, nativity cast, and dancers. It was a privilege for the students to represent our school at such a lovely venue. All are applauded for a job well-done!
It is with great sadness that I share the sudden passing of alumna, Marakah Dennis. Marakah attended St. Anthony for grades 3-8 and graduated in 2015. She then matriculated to St. John’s College High School where she excelled in academics, athletics, and participated in the school newspaper and other extra-curricular activities. She graduated in 2019 and was a freshman at Louisiana State University. Marakah had an engaging personality, cheerful demeanor, and an infectious smile. She was loved by many and will be missed by all. We ask that you keep Marakah, her family, and all of her friends and teachers in your prayers during this difficult time. Eternal rest, grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
