On Thursday, May 13th, the 4th grade in-person students traveled to Our Lady Queen of Preachers Convent on Lawrence and 8th Streets in Brookland for an afternoon of recreation and prayer together. After a simple, but prayerful May Crowning on the Saint Anthony School front lawn, the students trooped over the Monroe Street Bridge under clear blue skies. The 4th Graders were invited over to celebrate the Feast of Our Lady of Fatima. The mid-day break was filled with praying and playing hard! The students had a soccer game and a picnic lunch on the side lawn. They prayed the Rosary together as a class in the Convent Chapel. Later, they delighted in an ice cream treat donated by Mrs. Shirley, Sister Mary Olivia's mother. Mr. Washington even came along for the afternoon, offering an outdoor art class! When asked what she enjoyed most about the trip, Alivia Wade said, "Praying the Rosary and eating ice cream." Elias Ramos also, "Enjoyed praying the Rosary." The 4th grade is an extremely inquisitive class and are eager to engage in deep faith discussions. The Rosary is always a time for them of beautiful faith sharing and reflection on the Mysteries of the life of Jesus with Mary His mother!
