In March, we were planning to perform the “Stations of the Cross” live in the monastery. We had talked about including props and costumes so we were getting ready to create this memorable moment with our students.
Unfortunately, the campus closure happened before this could become a reality. After some conversation and looking at what platforms we had available to perform the “Stations of the Cross” we decided to make a video involving our students. Despite the presence of many unanswered questions, as I say to my estudiantes: ¡todo es posible en la clase de español! How can we make our students be part of this project? Well, we contacted them and several said: Sí, Señora Bunker, we want to help you to do this! Ms. Salonga chose the music in between the slides, Sra. García worked on bilingual translations and Mr. Thomasian was willing to be a reader as well. I have to admit that I was more than overwhelmed with the response of several of my students. Of course, we had some technical difficulties but Jesus guided us to make it happen.
We had three days to put everything together and I have to say that my husband was a great support. “Stations of the Cross” was delivered to our escuela católica San Antonio digitally with the participation of my great students and staff. I shared this with my students in Google Classroom as well because I believed that they would feel very proud to see their classmates in this video whom I am sure they miss just as much as I do.
This experience was unique and wonderful. I know God’s presence was there at all times and it was a blessing for our St. Anthony community. We hope you enjoyed our presentation and will use it as a resource to grow closer to our Lord!
