St. Anthony Catholic School is seeking teachers for the 2024-2025 school year. The teachers will report to the principal, vice principal, and education specialist while being an integral part of the faculty team serving in an advisory capacity to the administration for the school’s policies, philosophy, organization, and curriculum.
Responsibilities:
● Support and uphold the philosophy of Catholic education and the mission of St Anthony.
● Plan for instruction with logically sequenced objectives based on the curriculum standards of the Archdiocese of Washington.
● Collaborate with the various school teams.
● Be prepared with appropriate material and resources.
● Review and adopt accommodations specified for students with CAPs or other learning plans. The teacher will collaborate with the resource teacher to ensure the success of resource students.
● Use varied assessment tools, both in print and digitally, to perform frequent formative and summative assessments. The teacher will schedule, supervise, and proctor makeup tests and classwork.
● Maintain grades for homework, classwork, essays, projects, quizzes, and tests.
● Schedule, supervise, and proctor standardized testing three times per school year in accordance with ADW practices.
● Practice positive, consistent discipline in the management of the classroom and homeroom.
● Communicate with parents regarding academic, behavioral, social, and safety concerns.
● Attend weekly faculty and team meetings. The teacher will attend school functions outside of the school day as required by the Faculty Handbook.
Skills required:
● Knowledge of the basic teachings of the Catholic Church.
● Knowledge of subjects taught, instructional methods and strategies, and curriculum differentiation.
● Knowledge of child development, learning, and behavior specific to various grade levels. The teacher will have the ability to manage student behavior in the classroom setting and in the homeroom setting.
● Skill in pacing and differentiating instruction. The teacher will have the ability to respond to individual learning needs.
● Skill in motivating and engaging students in the learning process. The teacher will have the ability to demonstrate gains in student performance that are in keeping with school goals.
● Skill in collaborating with peers to enhance the work environment and support instructional planning across the curriculum.
● Ability to conference with parents upon request and respond to voice mail messages and email in a timely manner.
Minimum Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field preferred; BA or BS four-year degree required.
● At least 12 hours in education courses and a valid teaching certificate preferred; obligation to become certified within three (3) years of date of hire required.
