Do you know how to tie a bow tie? It's not a common skill, but it's one that thirty or so students mastered on November 3rd at our Fifth Annual Bow Tie Brunch. Ms. Sylvia Hall, a grandmother in our school, had the idea that our boys and a male role model in their lives should come together at least once a year to discuss important topics, participate in engaging activities, and learn how to tie a bow tie. The program was led by students Emari Green, Tyreik Reese, Richard Scott, and Pharaoh Mayo-Carey. Special thanks to parent Mr. Lloyd Lumpkin for leading prayer, keynote speaker Mr. James King, mime Mr. Michael Hill, bow tie teacher Mr. David Okhumale, and parent photographer and event planner Mr. Chris Carroll. Students enjoyed the poem "Count that Day Lost" by George Elliot, fun team building activities, a key note address entitled "Fork in the Road," a delicious brunch and a lot of happy memory-making. Many thanks are extended to Ms. Hall for her leadership, all volunteers, and sponsors. We hope you will encourage your sons, nephews, and grandsons to join us next year!
