The day after being announced the seventh archbishop of the Archdiocese of Washington, Archbishop Wilton Gregory made a visit to St. Anthony Catholic School last Friday. The visit surprised and overjoyed the faculty, staff, and students.
Archbishop Gregory, Cardinal Wuerl, Secretary of Education Jem Sullivan, and Superintendent Bill Ryan received an abbreviated tour from Fr. Fred and Mr. Thomasian.
During his visit, the Archbishop learned about our growing Spanish program, played Mr. Potato Head, met the seventh grade’s bearded dragon, dialogued with some of our Dominican Sisters, enjoyed a lovely Lenten song from the kindergarten, and learned of our plans to expand our Pre-K program. The school visit ended with a Q&A session with a handful of our eighth grade students. (He was delighted to know that 100% of our graduates are accepted into Catholic high schools.)
The school enjoyed Archbishop Gregory’s first visit and looks forward to many more to come. Please visit our website and Facebook pages to see some of the pictures from the visit.
